Zoho People and Recruitment are the two key applications, but they are very different
It was Zoho’s objective to develop all the applications necessary to run their entire business. A business that now stretches across the entire globe and over 20,000 employees. Clearly a capable HR application and Recruitment tool would need to be a part of this. Zoho People and Zoho Recruit were the result.
Zoho People
Zoho People was developed from scratch to service Zoho’s growing employee base and is unlike any other Zoho application. People has now become a very capable and fully functional HR application from core HR functions such as staff onboarding/offboarding, leave and attendance management to custom defined services, performance management and advanced workflows and AI agentic processes using Zoho’s own AI engine, Zia.
An employee portal enables people to self-manage many HR tasks and processes and see data as specified by the system administrator. Leave can be booked and feedback sought for appraisals. Attendance management is possible and the system even goes as far as logging time sheets and onboarding new employees.
Now comes the ‘but’ moment. Clareti has implemented Zoho People a number of times; however one recurring observation is how People deals with part-time or flexible working employees. People is used by Zoho themselves and as such needs to accommodate a large number of hourly paid employees on shift patterns. Many UK (or Western Europe) companies offer much more flexibility in work patterns with through choice or legislation. Shift patterns are used to manage this within the system but frequent changes are needed if this ‘shift’ pattern changes e.g. if someone works three days a week but can choose those days. .

Zoho Recruit
Zoho Recruit is completely different and separate to Zoho People. It is based on an early version of CRM which has since diverged and become a powerful and complete recruitment tool used by nearly a million recruiters.
Being part of the wider Zoho community is an enormous benefit when using this application. The ability to natively integrate with the People HR application, Meetings, Sign, Writer, CRM, Forms, Survey etc. means a fully integrated and powerful process to obtain the best talent in the easiest way possible.
